Water Margin was produced during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties and is generally believed to have been written by Shi Nai'an and Luo Guanzhong. It was created based on the Xuanhe Yishu and related tales and stories. The entire work depicts the peasant uprising in the Song Dynasty, portraying numerous heroes of Liangshan, such as Li Kui, Wu Song, Lin Chong, and Lu Zhishen, while exposing the corruption and cruelty of the feudal ruling class. The plot is intricate, the characters vivid, and the artistic achievement is outstanding.
