Features: As a comprehensive discipline aimed at providing relevant information to managers, helping them manage effectively, and implementing corporate objectives, management accounting plays a crucial role in recording cost information, providing decision-related data, and assisting in planning and control. With the changes in the current manufacturing environment and the rise of the service industry, management accounting has continuously evolved, giving rise to new theories and methods that address the transformation of management themes in enterprises. These theories and methods hold significant practical value for Chinese enterprises as well. Mastering the fundamental theories and innovative ideas of management accounting and applying them to China's economic practices are essential skills for talents who need to adapt to the needs of socialist economic construction with Chinese characteristics. To enable students in economics and management at ordinary universities to grasp the relevant theories of management accounting while also flexibly applying the knowledge to enhance practical operational skills, we have compiled this textbook, "Management Accounting." This book primarily consists of five parts:
Part 1: Introduction (2 chapters) introduces the basic framework and current development status of management accounting;
Part 2: Basic Cost Knowledge and Applications (3 chapters) covers fundamental cost concepts and their applications in management accounting;
Part 3: Management Decision Systems (3 chapters) explains how management accounting serves long-term and short-term decision-making;
Part 4: Planning and Control (3 chapters) introduces the basic methods of management accounting in service of planning and control;
Part 5: Special Topics in Management Accounting (7 chapters) presents several fundamental theories and methods of new developments in management accounting, such as strategic management accounting and quality cost accounting. These chapters are relatively independent and can be taught as special topics.
When writing this book, we strive to be close to reality and easy to understand. The content of each chapter considers not only the traditional basic knowledge but also supplements new knowledge of management accounting in the context of the new economy. To help readers better understand the practical applications of the fundamental knowledge in each chapter and cultivate their application skills, we have arranged an introductory case study at the beginning of each chapter, which runs throughout the chapter. This approach uses real-world scenarios to explain concepts, simulating the problems that readers might encounter in actual economic activities. It helps readers understand the practical application background of theories and motivates them to discern and process information amidst complex environments, thereby mastering relevant theories through critical thinking and developing the ability to transform theories into solutions for real-world problems. Some chapters also include a "Focus on Reality" sidebar to help readers understand the practical manifestations of certain methods or theories. Teachers can use these as starting points to encourage students to conduct further research or reflection. Additionally, this book references some excellent articles in related fields in certain introductory cases, "Focus on Reality," and case analysis questions, upon which we have made revisions. Here, we express our sincere gratitude to the relevant authors and will do our best to contact them. For authors we have not yet contacted, please see the back of the book for contact information so that we may compensate them accordingly.
