Features: In 1991, the editor received funding from the National Social Science Fund of China to research the topic "Comparative Study of Economic Development in Major Countries." The study focused on five vast and populous countries—United States, Soviet Union, Brazil, India, and China—as its subjects, with the period of comparison being 1945-1989, which spanned 45 years after World War II. In 1997, the monograph "Comparative Study of Economic Development in Major Countries" was published by the People's Publishing House. At that time, the idea was to compare these large, vast, and populous countries, studying their experiences and lessons in economic development, which would have more direct reference value for China. Now, 15 years have passed, and since the 1990s, the world economy has undergone tremendous changes, and China's economy and society have also experienced earth-shaking transformations. My colleague Li Jie and I have developed the idea of continuing research on this issue.
