What should I do if my baby doesn't want to eat milk anymore?

Patient's question:

My baby has been a few months old. Usually, he is quite well-behaved. When feeding him milk, he is also very cooperative. But recently, for some reason, when I feed him milk, he refuses. I'm very worried. What should I do if the baby doesn't eat milk?

Doctor's answer:

Is the child lacking in vitamin C? A lack of vitamin C may cause the child to be unresponsive and cry when picked up. A deficiency in vitamin C can also lead to irritability, fatigue, decreased appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. Local symptoms include swelling and pain in the lower limbs, and the legs may be outwardly bent and inwardly curved like a frog's. Due to severe pain, the child may cry when someone approaches and fears having their legs touched. Diarrhea in children may also result in vitamin C deficiency. Proper supplementation with vitamin C is recommended.
Because a child's stomach is small and positioned horizontally, and with low tone in the cardiac sphincter and well-developed pyloric sphincter, it is easier for them to vomit after feeding. To prevent this, it is generally advisable to hold the child upright after feeding and gently pat their back with an empty palm.
