Features: Zhu Tingguang was an outstanding academic organizer and a distinguished scholar. The collection presented to the readers records the arduous journey of Researcher Zhu Tingguang in dedicating himself to the development of China's discipline of world history. Zhu Tingguang was not only a scholar but also a warrior, or to say, primarily a warrior. This was not only because he was once a "little red kid" in the family of the People's Liberation Army, fighting for the freedom, independence, and liberation of the Chinese people across the nation, but also because in the construction of China's discipline of world history, he always took the lead and fought tirelessly as long as he had breath, making irreplaceable contributions to its development. During his tenure as Director of the Institute of World History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhu Tingguang made the institute vibrant and achieved remarkable results. He placed great emphasis on the cultivation of middle-aged and young researchers, going to great lengths to help them grow professionally. In my personal experience, he recommended Chen Xiangchao, who had a background in Italian, to study under me; he also encouraged Wu Yin to apply for my doctoral program. Under his care, a group of middle-aged and young scholars matured and have now become the backbone of China's world history academia. Comrade Zhu Tingguang adhered to the principle of an open institute, widely connecting with world history scholars from major universities and colleges across the country. He held great respect for the elderly scholars like Professor Wu Yujin and had planned to invite them to support the writing of a multi-volume world history, though this plan was ultimately not realized, but it reflects his foresight. With his support, Donghua University established a specialized institution for researching World War II. Similar examples are numerous.
