Features: Preface to the Series "Miracle of 300 Points in the MBA Joint Exam" (6th Edition)
This self-study tutorial, meticulously compiled for candidates preparing for the National MBA Joint Exam in January 2006 and the In-service MBA Joint Exam in October 2005, is a completely revamped edition based on a comprehensive summary of the previous five versions, aligning with the new exam syllabus requirements. To create more opportunities for experienced professionals or outstanding talents with management potential, the National MBA Advisory Committee decided in 2005 to make significant adjustments to the traditional exam scheme. Specifically, the written exam would only cover two subjects: Comprehensive Ability and English, while eliminating the exams on Politics and Management. Additionally, the weight distribution of the three components—Mathematics, Writing, and Logic—within the Comprehensive Ability section was adjusted to further strengthen the role of interviews in the admission process. This exam reform holds great significance for the entire MBA education sector. The results of its implementation have been positive, making it easier to select candidates with rich work experience and management potential, thus providing more advanced study opportunities for frontline management professionals. However, given that the MBA Joint Exam remains an selective exam in China, such reforms can only be gradual. While the characteristics of the MBA training model suggest that admission should adopt more subjective and flexible approaches, focusing on candidates' management background, performance, and qualifications, the current Chinese context requires adherence to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness. According to the Ministry of Education, the score required to qualify for the interview is determined by the performance in the annual joint exam and the total number of students enrolled nationwide. Therefore, the written exam results will continue to play a significant role in admissions for a considerable period, especially for candidates with years of work experience—sometimes even critical. This is the broader context behind Fudan University Press's annual publication of this review series. Over the past six years, to produce high-quality books, Fudan University Press has adhered to the following principles in organizing the writing of the "Miracle of 300 Points in the MBA Joint Exam" series:
1. Collaboration Among Tsinghua, Peking, and Fudan Universities to Leverage Northern and Southern Strengths
Since many MBA candidates have worked for years and many are studying while employed, it is difficult for them to dedicate sufficient time to specialized preparation. Therefore, Fudan University Press began in 1999 to meticulously organize experienced teachers to write a targeted and self-study-friendly review series. After rigorous market testing, the "Miracle of 300 Points in the MBA Joint Exam" series has been well-received by candidates and remains consistently popular over the past six years, now established as a top-tier brand in MBA exam preparation materials. The series has become the preferred choice for MBA candidates due to its unwavering commitment to quality and its distinctive feature of combining the strengths of northern and southern top universities. The Management Schools of Tsinghua, Peking, and Fudan Universities are widely recognized as China's best business schools, and their MBA entrance exams rank among the nation's top. Many authors involved in writing this series have extensive teaching experience from MBA preparatory courses at these prestigious universities. With a candidate-centered and responsible attitude, they meticulously crafted the content, which was then carefully reviewed and published by Fudan University Press, ensuring the full integration of northern and southern strengths.
2. Leading Professors and Renowned Experts, Forming a Golden Team of Writers
A high-quality exam preparation textbook must meet three key criteria:
- It should prioritize serving candidates' preparation needs.
- It should be forward-looking, addressing future exam trends.
- It should strictly follow the new syllabus, with difficulty levels matching or slightly exceeding the actual exam papers.
This series meets these requirements, aiming to equip candidates with fundamental knowledge, answering techniques, learning methods, and focused practice. The authors include both academically accomplished experts and experienced teaching professionals who have long been involved in MBA exam preparation. With rich teaching experience, they possess a deep understanding of the exam syllabus and approach writing with a candidate-centered and responsible attitude. They hope to share their expertise with more candidates through this series, helping them benefit from the content.
3. Strictly Aligned with the New Syllabus, Offering a Comprehensive Solution for the MBA Joint Exam
The series adheres to the new syllabus each year and is promptly updated based on changes. In terms of structure, it is carefully designed to address the exam's characteristics of a large volume of questions and broad content. First, it comprehensively explains fundamental knowledge and skills to help candidates prepare thoroughly and adapt quickly to the exam. Second, it analyzes past exam questions to illustrate problem-solving techniques and patterns, enabling candidates to grasp and apply them effectively. Third, the series introduces the concept of "focused practice." While discouraging unrealistic "sea of questions" strategies, authors have meticulously curated targeted exercises and mock tests that align with future exam trends, based on statistical analysis of past questions. The difficulty level of the exercises is intentionally "moderately challenging" not only to ensure candidates are well-prepared but also to bridge the gap between current review materials and actual exam difficulty. Through concentrated practice, candidates can improve their reaction speed and overall comprehensive ability. Given the guiding principle of "serving candidates, concise explanation and practice; full-simulation, moderately challenging," combined with the authors' sharing of accumulated teaching experience from years of MBA exam trends and instruction, the series features detailed guidance, abundant examples, rapid short-term reinforcement, strong targeting, and practicality. It will undoubtedly help candidates achieve significant improvement in a short time. Therefore, the series is not only suitable as a reference for pre-exam tutoring at universities but also as a self-study textbook for all candidates. We sincerely hope this series will provide substantial assistance to candidates, deliver real results in preparation, and help them achieve high scores in the 2006 MBA Joint Exam. We earnestly hope and wish all candidates, after diligent preparation, to perform well and successfully secure admission to top MBA programs.
Due to the broad scope and extensive content of the MBA Joint Exam, as well as frequent syllabus changes, despite our best efforts, oversights may still occur. We warmly welcome criticism and valuable feedback from teaching experts, candidates, and readers to help improve the series in future editions.
