Features: War has always been a major event affecting the fate of humanity. The special charm of war is difficult to explain with simple logic—economic, political, diplomatic, historical, psychological, national, moral, ideological, and military reasons all interact with Pandora's Box of human nature. Practitioners and observers of war have jointly created human war culture within this "Pandora's Box." This book explores the lives of famous Chinese military leaders from a human perspective, differing from traditional historical accounts and biographies of military figures. It does not provide a comprehensive record of a general's life but selects the most brilliant, exciting, and dramatic moments in their careers for presentation. It introduces dozens of the most influential historical generals in China's millennia-long history, telling their life stories and how they developed into legendary military figures. The authors of this book are an elite group in human history—over 5,000 years, they have never written a book together, but now they have gathered. The book selects dozens of famous battles that have shaped Chinese history in chronological order, from the pre-Qin period to the late Qing Dynasty, covering nearly 3,000 years. It records the life stories of over 40 famous military leaders and the representative battles they commanded. Each battle is an independent chapter, briefly introducing the historical background, focusing on the occurrence, development, and organizational process of the war, and concisely analyzing the strategic and tactical strengths and weaknesses of both sides. It also attempts to reflect the inherent connections between different battles. At the end of each main text, there are comments, accompanied by relevant battle maps and background maps, to help readers understand the war from more perspectives.
