Features: The reform of the appraisal system has gradually become a hot topic of concern for many scholars in the process of China's litigation system reform. The current appraisal system in China still has a series of shortcomings, such as insufficient openness of procedures, inadequate protection of the rights of parties, lack of supervision and remedy procedures for appraisal actions, and serious issues of repeated appraisals, which lead to low litigation efficiency, severe waste of litigation resources, and damage to the stability and authority of justice. Meanwhile, the expert witness system in countries has many aspects worth learning from, such as fully reflecting the requirements of party autonomy and equality, the transparency of expert witness procedures and the right of parties to participate in the process, and the guarantee of the objectivity of expert testimony. Based on this, this book proposes a brand-new concept for the model selection of China's appraisal system and puts forward its own suggestions for improving this new concept from the perspectives of litigation procedures and technology.
