Features: Sudden social crisis events are a common issue faced by countries around the world today. From regional violent conflicts, diplomatic friction between nations, zoonotic diseases, various natural disasters, to recurring mining accidents, explosions, forest fires, food poisoning, power outages, hostage-taking, and various terrorist incidents, they all affect national and regional social security to varying degrees, forming various types of social crises and causing psychological panic among the public. This book can be broadly divided into two parts. Part one is the theoretical section. It discusses the key principles and research overview of crisis management, then summarizes the general mechanisms of crisis event handling and the characteristics of crisis event handling mechanisms in some countries. It then analyzes the four main entities in the general mechanism of crisis event handling—governments and leaders, non-governmental organizations, the public, and the media—exploring their roles and mutual influences in crisis event handling. The second part is the case study section. We conduct case analyses of three types of social crisis events triggered by exogenous factors, human factors, and globalization factors, according to the general mechanism of crisis event handling, summarizing the experiences and lessons learned of each entity in social crisis event handling.
