Features: The Kaiyuan era was a grand age. The spirit and social atmosphere it reflected, under the strong influence of politics, economy, and culture, was one of free soaring, vigorous progress, and youthful vitality. If the five thousand years of China's long history is a magnificent garden with a hundred flowers in full bloom, then the Kaiyuan era is the peony in full splendor. If the splendid Chinese civilization is a powerful and passionate symphony, then the Kaiyuan era is the exhilarating climax. If the brilliant Chinese culture is a river of profound and heavy spring water, then the Kaiyuan era is the soaring and splashing waterfall. In short, it is a vibrant and extraordinary ode sung by an extraordinary era.
