What is the reason why children don't talk?

Patient's question:

The child doesn't speak, and this situation has been going on for some time. As parents, we are very worried. We hope the doctor can give some advice.

Doctor's answer:

A baby may not be able to speak due to the following reasons:
1. Delayed intellectual development. The child's language function is underdeveloped, resulting in unclear pronunciation, limited vocabulary, poor self-expression skills, and poor comprehension. They cannot perform corresponding actions based on parental instructions, and their intellectual function is significantly lower than that of their peers.
2. Delayed language development. Children with delayed language development can only emit some syllables after the age of one and cannot form words or master a large vocabulary. Two- or three-year-old children cannot describe what they see or express their wishes in complete sentences, but they can understand what parents say. Most children who do not speak are caused by delayed language development.
