Features: On October 10, 1986, East China Normal University established the Department of Philosophy on the basis of its original philosophy major. If establishing the Department of Philosophy in 1986 can be seen as "the fruit ripening and the falling," its gestation period lasted for 35 years. When Mr. Feng Qi joined East China Normal University in 1951, he already had the idea of establishing a Department of Philosophy. However, constrained by the system at the time, this idea only became a reality after going through decades. In 2006, it coincided with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Philosophy at East China Normal University. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Department of Philosophy, we compiled this collection of essays. The articles included in this collection were selected from the published papers of teachers who are currently or have previously worked at the Department of Philosophy. These articles reflect the research fields and status of the Department of Philosophy teachers from different perspectives, while also showcasing the academic journey of the Department of Philosophy over the past 20 years. Of course, the academic papers included in this collection are merely several milestone markers in the academic development process of the Department of Philosophy at East China Normal University. Instead of viewing them as the end of the past, it is more appropriate to understand them as the beginning of the future.
