Publication Date: 1998-07-01
Features: The Southern Song Academy Records and its Continuation, originally titled The Zhongxing Academy Records and the Zhongxing Academy Continuation Records. When the Qing Dynasty compiled the Siku Quanshu (Complete Library of the Four Treasuries) from the Yongle Dadian (Yongle Encyclopedia), the names were changed to their current titles. This book is one of the specialized historical sourcebooks compiled by Song Dynasty scholars. It primarily records historical materials related to the Southern Song Academy system. These historical materials are valuable for our research on the official system and historical documents of the Song Dynasty, as well as for exploring the customs and anecdotes of the Song Dynasty. The Continuation is unknown to whom it was compiled. The former starts from the first year of the Jianyan era (1127) and ends in the fourth year of the Kangxi era (1665), while the latter starts from the fifth year of the Chunxi era (1178) and ends in the fifth year of the Xiancu era (1270). It is divided into nine categories: Development, Institutions, Storage, Compilation, Authorship, Historical Facts, Official Connections, Stipends, and Responsibilities, providing detailed records of the systems of the Southern Song Secretariat and related historical institutions. It holds great value for the study of cultural relics and institutions of the Southern Song Dynasty.
