Features: The articles collected in this essay collection are actually records of a certain stage in my life. Specifically, except for one or two exceptions, most of the essays were written after my return to Shanghai in 1990. I wrote down my observations, my thoughts and reflections, topics related to me, and some off-topic remarks. At the same time, I must objectively say that some of the articles were written in response to invitations from journal editors. What gives me some comfort is that I did not treat the commissioned articles carelessly. In summary, I sincerely hope that readers will enjoy these short writings as much as they enjoy my novels.
