Please allow me to follow the ancient customs of writing prefaces to honor the purpose and potential achievements of this work, which is sincerely dedicated to you. — In his preface to the published works of Polybius, Cassiodorus once boldly narrated to Henry IV his research on ancient people and some common prejudices associated with such studies. Please allow me, dear Sir/Madam, to also boldly narrate in public the relationship between speculative politicians and practical politicians. In past eras, practical politicians have acknowledged that speculative politicians only propose ideas on state institutions and governance, yet they have neither given these ideas the attention they deserve nor taken seriously the Platonic Republic and its utopian legal system cited by the latter.
