Features: Confucianism is the foundation and mainstream of Chinese traditional culture, advocating the study of "benevolence" and "sageliness": with "benevolence" and "self-restraint" as the ideological foundation, fostering a collective consciousness of caring for others; and with "sageliness" bringing benefits to the people and promoting harmony among all nations. The two are organically linked and mutually reinforcing. Over long-term development, they have formed a sophisticated and unique system of humanistic thought, cultivating numerous excellent national spirits and traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. The author advocates the creation of "Contemporary Neo-Confucianism," which is developed under the guidance of Marxism in its evolving form, based on a correct and scientific understanding of Confucianism. It discards the dross of Confucianism, draws upon and integrates the outstanding culture of foreign lands, especially the West, and combines it with the realities of contemporary society to create a "new Confucianism." It is an innovation of Chinese culture under new historical conditions, a necessary and important aspect of building a socialist advanced culture, and will play a positive role in constructing a socialist harmonious society in China, comprehensively building a "moderately prosperous society," promoting peace and development for humanity, and building a harmonious world, making new contributions for the Chinese nation.
