When the spleen is enlarged, red blood cells tend to get trapped and destroyed within it, creating a vicious cycle: the more red blood cells that get trapped in the spleen, the larger the spleen becomes, leading to more red blood cells getting trapped. It is recommended to undergo a complete blood count test without excluding the possibility of blood disorders, and if necessary, a bone marrow cytology examination should be performed for a definitive diagnosis.
