Features: Chengdu dialect has an extremely rich vocabulary and is highly representative within the Southwest Mandarin dialect area. The formation of Chengdu dialect vocabulary is partly due to the integration and permeation of various dialects over the centuries, as well as the retention of some ancient words that have survived through historical development. The geographical environment and folk customs of the Chengdu Plain have also contributed many unique terms. Systematically recording, organizing, and researching Chengdu dialect vocabulary undoubtedly plays a practical and persuasive role in the study of Chinese lexical history and Chinese dialectology.
