Features: Since 2002, the National Education Examination Center has made significant adjustments to the postgraduate entrance English examination, not only by adding a listening test but also by greatly changing the question types in other sections of the test. To more comprehensively assess students' language abilities, the traditional single-item questions that tested grammar and vocabulary for many years have been completely abandoned, replaced by grammar and vocabulary assessment based on passages in the reading section. This book breaks the traditional format of vocabulary guides and dictionaries. Tailored to the newly adjusted postgraduate English examination, it specifically helps candidates master the vocabulary required for the test, not only helping them memorize these words but, more importantly, teaching them how to use and collocate them, especially verb patterns. It also helps students understand the formation and derivation rules of vocabulary to expand their word bank. The book explains each word's part of speech, grammar, and meaning in order from the 26 English letters. It uses concise methods to mark verb patterns and provides example sentences for illustration. Basic grammar points are listed with highlighted backgrounds and briefly explained; word roots are listed with derivatives derived from them in the entries of core words. Usage notes are provided for words with special meanings, synonyms, near-synonyms, and easily confused words. Different spellings in British and American English are noted for individual words. At the end of the book, there is an irregular verb table and a table of special plural forms of nouns for the entries included.
