When this perspective, compassion, and wisdom face the "problem list" of social development, a piece of good news is born. — Yu Guoming (Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China)
Today's news is tomorrow's history. Today's journalists are recorders and interpreters of history. We must work together to truly gain the power to interpret reality and history. — Chen Wanying (Director of the Center for Journalism and Communication Studies, The University of Hong Kong)
These 160+ works reflect four key characteristics:
First, they accurately capture the pulse of the times and reflect the trajectory of the era. Walking alongside the times is a fundamental requirement of the journalistic profession and a shared pursuit of Chinese colleagues.
Second, they adhere to the principle of "closely linking with reality, life, and the masses," making them vivid, lively, and touching. "Three Closenesses" is an excellent tradition in the Chinese industry. The closer the connection to life, the stronger the vitality of the evening paper. Evening papers across the country have continued to inherit and promote this spirit, and the collected works are masterpieces of in-depth fieldwork, meticulous reporting, and careful editing by journalists. Many pieces come directly from the front lines, full of life, spirit, and soul, exuding a rich sense of daily life.
Third, they use small incidents to illustrate big ideas, highlighting the unique style of the evening paper. They use stories to convey (reasons), emotions to move people, avoiding preaching and empty rhetoric. This is the style of evening paper news that makes it enjoyable to read.
Fourth, they reflect the strong sense of social responsibility and mission of Chinese journalists. From these outstanding works, we can see that journalists in the Chinese evening paper industry have always focused on the interests and needs of the people. With relentless dedication and unwavering professional spirit, they have braved the hardships of reporting, overcame all distractions, and worked tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of the people, expose social evils, and celebrate the genuine emotions of humanity.
