Features: General Principles of Criminal Law adopts a thematic research approach, systematically organizing fundamental theoretical issues in criminal law. For each topic, the book strikes a balance between the depth of a monograph and the accessibility of a textbook, offering comprehensive and well-structured discussions. It represents a comprehensive review of the author's previous research on criminal theory following the 1997 revision of the Criminal Law, as well as a significant work in the field of criminal law. The first volume of the book corresponds to the theory of crime in the criminal law system. The theory of crime is a vital component of criminal law theory, with the theory of crime composition particularly highlighting the professionalism of the discipline. The first volume consists of ten thematic chapters, reflecting the author's research achievements in the field of crime theory. These ten chapters broadly cover major topics in crime theory, with particularly in-depth discussions on acts vs. omissions, intentional vs. negligent crimes, and special forms of criminal conduct. The second volume of the book corresponds to the theory of punishment in the criminal law system, which is a relatively weak area in Chinese criminal law theory research. The second volume systematically organizes fundamental theoretical issues in the theory of punishment through ten thematic chapters, with significant attention given to the penal system, reflecting the author's meticulous efforts in this area. Although General Principles of Criminal Law is not a systematic work on criminal law, its twenty thematic chapters cover a broad scope, embodying the author's fundamental perspectives and positions on major issues in criminal law, thus holding significant academic value.
