Features: The "Beijing Xingshi Huabao" published before the Qing Dynasty, preserved as a rare collection in the National Library, was a renowned daily illustrated newspaper launched in the first year of the Xuantong era of the Qing Dynasty (1909). It ceased publication after only sixty issues. With vivid and lifelike illustrations, colloquial language, and a style of satire and mockery, it documented the street news and official affairs of late Qing Dynasty Beijing. It delivered a scathing critique of the Qing government's corruption and incompetence. Due to the newspaper office's location near the "Eight Great Alleys" in Beijing, known for its brothels, it frequently reported on pimps, prostitutes, and prominent figures engaging in courtesan affairs, presenting with a historical panorama of late Qing social life.
