These teaching experiences have made the author acutely aware of the gradual evolution of TOEFL core vocabulary and its meanings in recent years, as well as the changes in vocabulary assessment methods and the shift in the focus of vocabulary assessment. Selecting vocabulary requires not only familiarity with the current TOEFL exam but also in-depth research into the current vocabulary mastery of most learners. The author has previously taught College English tests (CET-4 and CET-6) and has a deep understanding of the current vocabulary proficiency of college students. The 3,000 core vocabulary selected in this book covers approximately 1,500 CET-4 and CET-6 words commonly used in TOEFL, some of whose meanings have shifted; there are over 500 words that appear in the GRE vocabulary list, though in the GRE exam, these words are often tested for other meanings; the remaining 1,000 words belong to the inherent vocabulary of the TOEFL exam.
