Features: The scope of this bulletin includes 11 rivers: the Yangtze, Yellow, Huai, Hai, Pearl, Songhua, Liao, Qiantang, Min, Tarim, and Hei Rivers. The content includes the annual runoff, sediment transport, and their intra-annual distribution at major hydrological control stations, scouring and deposition in key river sections, sedimentation in major reservoirs, and significant sediment events. Basic river information and sediment-water change processes are published in the bulletin of the river for the first time. The sediment in motion in rivers is generally divided into two types: suspended load (suspended in water and moving forward) and bed load (moved forward along the riverbed). Due to the limited number of bed load measurement stations compared to suspended load stations, the sediment transport in the bulletin generally refers to the suspended load portion and excludes the bed load. The main physical quantities and their definitions for describing river sediment in the bulletin are as follows:
Flow rate—The volume of water passing through a cross-section per unit time (cubic meters per second);
Runoff—The volume of water passing through a river cross-section within a certain period (cubic meters);
Sediment Transport—The mass of sediment passing through a river cross-section within a certain period (tons);
Sediment Yield—The amount of sediment produced per unit area of the drainage basin per unit time [tons/(year).
