Features: Gulliver begins his second journey in 1699, encountering a storm at sea and landing in a land called Lilliput, where the people are only 15 hundred meters tall. He later escapes and returns home. But soon, he embarks on another journey, first going to Brobdingnag, then to Laputa and Lag-nag, and finally to the even more bizarre land of Houyhnhnms. As a young man, Gulliver is proud of humankind and his homeland—England. During his travels to these strange lands, he converses with giants, magicians, and horses. At first, he finds their abnormal beliefs and strange ideas amusing. But as time passes, he begins to feel confused and question himself: "Why do humans engage in war, lying, fraud, and mutual slaughter? Is there no better way to live?" This book is one of the greatest satirical novels in the history of British literature. It is divided into four parts in total. Through the extraordinary journeys and various experiences of the protagonist, Dr. Gulliver, to fictional countries such as the Lilliputian land, the Brobdingnagian land, the Flying Island, and the land of Houyhnhnms, it vividly reflects the contradictions of British society in the first half of the 18th century, satirizing and critiquing Britain's domestic and foreign policies. Every time the protagonist visits a fantasy land, he is treated differently, witnessing countless wonders. For each scenario, the author describes it vividly, making the readers feel as if they are hearing the sounds and experiencing the scenes firsthand. This work is rich in imagination, unique in conception, and brilliant in language.
