Features: This book primarily discusses decorative art, and many of its viewpoints have already been addressed in Classic Decoration: Interior Edition. For the specific conditions in China, we advocated the principle of emphasizing the architectural attributes of interior decoration in that book. For this book, which focuses on outdoor decoration, we need to define the boundaries of its content in relation to architecture. Of course, the broad field of architecture encompasses a wide range of topics, including exterior decoration. However, we will focus on a relatively narrower scope of decoration, excluding architectural design, the exclusive aesthetic realm of architecture, and spatial structures, which will be left for architecture to discuss. We emphasize the independence of decoration and independent decorative content, such as the beauty of form and the beauty of two dimensions, but this does not mean that decoration can completely exist independently of its relationship with architecture. Regardless, decoration is merely an accessory to architecture, and it is only sometimes placed in a highly prominent position. At the same time, no matter what issue is being studied, its related content must be broken down into finer segments for relatively independent research. Only then can the relationships and overall nature within the system be scientifically determined, which is also a general method of scientific research.
