Features: While striving to provide a relatively comprehensive introduction to as many universities as possible, this book places greater emphasis on the humanities. It dedicates significant attention to the history of a considerable number of universities, particularly focusing on the individuals who played a crucial role in their establishment and the outstanding figures the universities have nurtured. The French thinker Saint-Simon made two famous assumptions: If France suddenly lost 50 outstanding physicists, 50 outstanding chemists, 50 outstanding writers, and 50 outstanding military and civilian engineers, France would instantly become a soulless zombie. However, if France lost the king's brother, as well as the princes, ministers, legislators, bishops, marshals, and governors, it would not bring the country any misfortune, as they had not contributed to its progress. This perspective is not entirely without bias, and not everyone may agree with it, but it is not entirely without reason. Therefore, when introducing the individuals nurtured by various universities, we not only highlight politicians but also scientists, writers, scholars, and others, especially those who have made significant contributions to the development of human society and the advancement of science and technology, such as Nobel laureates.
