Features: Since the Ministry of Agriculture proposed the "Vegetable Basket Project" plan and implementation in 1988, the production level of vegetables in various regions has been continuously improving. Implementing the "Vegetable Basket Project" has become an important way for farmers to escape poverty and achieve a well-off life. With the increase in unit-area yield of vegetables, the technological content in vegetable production has also become higher. In particular, the rapid development of protected vegetable cultivation has made continuous cropping under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions more conducive to the occurrence and spread of pests, diseases, and weeds. According to regulations issued by China's Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, and other relevant departments, highly toxic pesticides, pesticides with high residues, and pesticides with strong chronic toxicity are prohibited in vegetable production. However, due to the lack of knowledge about vegetable field among many rural vegetable farmers, the misuse of pesticides is relatively severe, making vegetables that were originally beneficial to human health a "public hazard" harmful to health, which has drawn widespread social attention. To address this, the authors, combining their own production practices and accumulated relevant materials, have compiled the book "New Vegetable Garden Safe Pesticide Use Guide" following the principles of economy, safety, and effectiveness. The book focuses on introducing nearly 200 types of pesticides, including high-efficiency, low-toxicity, low-residue, and moderately toxic pesticides that are permitted for use on vegetables according to national regulations, such as insecticides, miticides, fungicides, nematicides, herbicides, and plant growth regulators. It provides detailed explanations of their properties, formulations, toxicity, target pests/diseases, usage methods, and precautions. The entire book strives to present up-to-date content, advanced technology, and easy-to-understand language. It can serve as a reference for vegetable farmers, grassroots agricultural technicians, and pesticide operators.
