Treasure Island is one of the Selected Juvenile Literature from Around the World, and it is the breakthrough work of 19th-century British author Stevenson. The book depicts a boy named Jim, who stumbles upon a map of a deserted island showing a hidden treasure in the belongings of an old pirate, Bill. Squire Trelawney buys a three-masted ship, takes Jim and Dr. Livesey along, and sets sail to seek the treasure. During the voyage, it is discovered that pirates disguised as sailors have infiltrated the ship. Under the planning of the pirate leader, One-Legged Flint, they plot to seize the three-masted ship and monopolize the wealth. Hidden in an apple barrel, Jim overhears their plans and urgently informs Dr. Livesey and the others. As a result, a secret division forms on the ship, with Flint representing "evil" and the doctor representing "good." Dr. Livesey is clever and resourceful, while Jim is. After a fierce struggle, the "good" side ultimately defeats the numerically superior "evil" pirates and returns with the treasure.
