Features: The authors of this book have long been engaged in the teaching and research of criminal psychology. After years of incubation, accumulation, and research, they have finally compiled the book "Criminal Psychology" with a unique style. This book presents the fundamental knowledge and basic theories of criminal psychology in an innovative and accessible manner, offering in-depth yet easy-to-understand explanations. It also cautiously presents its own viewpoints and perspectives on controversial issues in the academic field. The theoretical framework of this book is distinctive, specifically divided into four parts:
Part I is the fundamental theories of criminal psychology, including Chapters 1 to 6, which primarily explore the nature and research methods of criminal psychology, the causes of criminal psychology formation, and the psychological phenomena of criminals.
Part II applies the fundamental theories of criminal psychology to psychological analyses of various types of criminals, including Chapters 7 to 12. We focus on dissecting the psychology of criminals of different ages, genders, and backgrounds, as well as the psychology behind intentional and negligent crimes, abnormal criminal psychology, group criminal psychology, and the psychology of criminals at different stages of legal proceedings.
Part III is the ultimate goal of criminal psychology research—prevention and control of criminal psychology. In Chapter 13, we provide a detailed introduction to the specific technical means of preventing and controlling criminal psychology.
Part IV is an outlook on criminal psychology research. In Chapter 14, we offer unique perspectives on the applied research and disciplinary development of criminal psychology, which are both summative and forward-looking. The four parts of the content (including each chapter) are interconnected yet independently structured.
Criminal psychology is a social science and cannot exist in isolation from society and the era. Considering this, we closely connect the current social development context, placing criminals within the political, economic, and cultural background of contemporary Chinese society, and conducting in-depth and meticulous analyses of their criminal psychology. During the writing of this book, we also incorporated theoretical viewpoints from the forefront of criminal psychology research both domestically and internationally, striving to stay synchronized with the latest research perspectives.
