(1) Optimal Age for Conception From a physiological perspective, the reproductive organs and various organs of a woman generally do not mature until after the age of 20. If pregnancy and childbirth occur too early, the fetus will compete with the still-developing mother for nutrients, which is unfavorable for both the mother's health and fetal development. However, having a child at an advanced maternal age, beyond 35, is also detrimental to the healthy development of the fetus. As women age, their eggs gradually deteriorate, and genetic material is more prone to abnormalities, leading to an increased incidence of congenital deformities and mentally retarded children. Additionally, if a woman becomes pregnant before the age of 20 or after 35, the probability of abnormal conditions such as uterine inertia, malposition of the fetus, and poor fetal development significantly increases, making it easier for newborns to experience asphyxiation, injury, or death. Optimizing reproduction is not only related to a woman's age but is also closely linked to a man's age. Men under the age of 22 may have fertility, but their reproductive systems are not fully mature. The sperm they produce are fewer in quantity and lower in quality, which increases the risk of congenital deformities in newborns and affects their intellectual development. However, an advanced paternal age is also unfavorable for optimizing reproduction. Statistical data shows that neonatal mortality increases with the age of the parents. If a father is over 40, the incidence of deformities in his children is twice as high as that of the control group with normal parental age. This is because older sperm from a man is more likely to undergo genetic mutations, significantly increasing the risk of congenital diseases in infants. Typically, a man's testicular function declines noticeably after the age of 45, but his fertility can continue until around the age of 70. Based on extensive analysis of data, the optimal age range for women to conceive is 23 to 29 years old, with the latest not exceeding 35 years old; for men, the optimal age range is 25 to 35 years old. During this period, both partners have rich life experience and abundant energy, which is beneficial for raising the infant.
(2) Optimal Season for Conception The changes in seasons throughout the year have a significant impact on human conception, embryonic development, and delivery. Spring—Although spring brings blooming flowers and favorable climate and temperature, it is also the season with a high incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases such as rubella virus infection and respiratory illnesses. Summer—The weather is hot. Winter—The weather is cold, making outdoor activities unfavorable. The best season for conception and delivery is around September, with delivery occurring around June the following year. This is because during early autumn, the weather is cool and comfortable, with no disruption to sleep or appetite. At this time, fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins are available, along with ample meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, creating favorable conditions for the mother to absorb and store essential nutrients, which is highly beneficial for fetal brain development. By the time winter arrives, the pregnant woman has safely passed through the most vulnerable period for fetal infection and teratogenic exposure. During the later stages of pregnancy, when both nurturing and education are emphasized, the environment is already pleasant with birdsong and blooming scenery, providing an ideal setting for fetal education. When delivery approaches, it is the cool and pleasant late spring and early summer, which can prevent newborns from developing heat rashes due to hot weather and is also beneficial for dietary regulation, aiding postpartum recovery and enabling better breastfeeding.
