Features: Polysyllabic and polysemous characters account for a certain proportion in modern Chinese common characters. They are among the most challenging characters to master in modern Chinese and represent one of the difficulties in primary school Chinese language teaching. To facilitate easy reference for teachers and students, the compilers have created the Practical Dictionary of Polysyllabic and Polysemous Characters for Primary School Students based on practical needs. This dictionary is organized into two sections: "Common" (mostly high-frequency characters in primary school Chinese textbooks that must be mastered) and "General" (characters outside textbooks for flexible selection). It emphasizes systematicity, scientificity, simplicity, and practicality, making it easy to operate and understand. The over 900 characters included cover most polysyllabic and polysemous characters in the Modern Chinese Dictionary. Therefore, this dictionary serves not only as a reference tool for primary school teachers and students but also as a valuable resource for the general public to learn the correct pronunciation and usage of polysyllabic and polysemous characters in Mandarin. Due to the limited knowledge of the author, there may be inaccuracies, and the author sincerely invites criticism and corrections from experts and peers. To better assist students in their learning, the following usage instructions are provided:
1. This dictionary includes over 900 polysyllabic and polysemous characters, with very few being polyphonic (one character with multiple meanings).
2. A "Table of Contents" is provided at the beginning of the main text.
3. After each character, all its pronunciations are listed. Each character appears only once, with repeated entries accompanied by annotations, representative words or sentences, and supplementary expansion entries marked with "Another, expanded word is."
4. In some specific meanings of certain characters, symbols indicate colloquial usage, while others indicate dialectal usage, and yet others indicate classical literary terms in written form.
5. A few polysyllabic and polysemous characters from ancient texts that are still in use today have been selectively included.
6. Some polysyllabic and polysemous characters, where one meaning is exclusively used in names, have also been included.
