Features: This is a book aimed at exploring women's inner life experiences. What is the truth of maternal life? What are the experiences and deep physiological and psychological contexts when women encounter new life? This book uses the social life history method (also known as oral history), conducting in-depth interviews with 29 mothers who gave birth in the 1980s and 1990s, of different ages, education levels, and residential areas. Their childbirth experiences are diverse, involving issues such as unmarried pregnant mothers, disabled mothers giving birth, mothers who committed crimes due to childbirth, and the choices faced during childbirth, such as stillbirths and the preference for sons or daughters. It attempts to reflect the unique psychological experiences of pregnant women determined by contemporary Chinese social culture. The lack of recognition for childbirth experiences has too many historical and realistic reasons, making it a significant and fundamental human experience that has long been ignored. This book, from the perspectives of humanities in medicine and women's studies, focuses on this field, treating it as an important theme to explore and study. It is not only to help women navigate life's critical moments but also to sincerely invite men and society to reflect on the sunshine of new life.
