Features: This book is a completely new version, updated and improved based on the original Sketching textbook, in response to the urgent requests of. Over the past five years, the Sketching textbook has led tens of thousands of young people into the world of art and helped them gain admission to art colleges, making a broad impact. To more accurately reflect the National School Art Education Master Plan, I was invited to oversee the compilation of this new edition of Sketching. Although the primary audience remains young students, we strive for meticulous quality in art education, ensuring clear and gradual explanations as well as high-standard demonstrations. For this purpose, four experienced senior teachers from the Shanghai University of Fine Arts and Tongji University, all with rich teaching experience, were organized to co-author this book. The book aligns with the psychology and artistic cognitive patterns of young people, catering to the current scope of professional exams in secondary and higher art institutions and the requirements of candidates. It is divided into four volumes: Geometric Solids, Still Life, Plaster Portraits, and Head and Chest Portraits, progressing from simple to complex in a systematic manner, making it highly beneficial for beginners' training. I hope to see more art enthusiasts join us in opening the door to the art of sketching and to see their presence among the ranks of artists in the new century.
