This scroll is on paper, with a height of 53 cm and a width of 690 cm. It depicts a light red and white landscape, with a loose and elegant brushwork and a light and refined color scheme, created in 2002. The image portrays the autumn of the Yan Mountains in northern China, with majestic and heavy mountains, rugged rocks, lush forests, and a spirited autumn atmosphere. Although the brushwork still involves outlining, scraping, dotting, and coloring, it is executed with bold, unrestrained strokes, with dripping ink and floating clouds and mist. It achieves both a flowing and ethereal effect and a vibrant and lush spiritual essence. The vitality of nature is reflected in the artistic conception and the spiritual and rational energy of the landscape. Observing from above and below, perceiving the charm of nature, and harmonizing with the spirit of mountains and rivers through artistic creation—these are the composer's reflections on the painter's heart.
