Features: Essentially, any literary history is the history of literature preserved and recorded within a specific period. The textual data that a certain era can preserve and record determines the basic content of its literary history. Regarding the development of poetry during the Zhou Dynasty, the vast majority of the poetic data we can see has been preserved through the Book of Songs. Therefore, by examining the formation process of the Book of Songs, we can gain insight into the historical trajectory of poetry development during the Zhou Dynasty. In this book, the author attempts to determine the dates of Zhou Dynasty poetic works and their relationship with the ritual and musical system, reconstructing the creation and compilation of Zhou Dynasty poetry as a system and cultural existence. By combining the historical development of Zhou Dynasty poetry with the social life and the evolution of its ritual and musical system during the Zhou Dynasty, the author utilizes the wealth of traditional literature and archaeological findings of gold, bronze, inscribed bamboo and silk documents, drawing on new achievements from fields such as history, linguistics, archaeology, and institutional history to trace and reconstruct the historical truth of the production and existence of poetic texts.
