Features: Sketching, as the name implies, is a quick way of artistic expression, embodying the unity of "speed" and "writing." "Speed" refers to the quickness of time, typically lasting a few minutes, a dozen minutes, or several dozen minutes, depending on the complexity and difficulty of the subject being depicted. "Writing" means that when sketching, one must draw with bold, decisive strokes, moving the brush naturally and without refinement, completing the work in one go. Without speed, it becomes mere tracing. Therefore, the essence and charm of sketching lie in its agile, concise, vivid, and summarized brushwork, capturing the form and emotion of the subject within a limited time, bringing it to life on the paper, thus giving it a unique aesthetic charm. The purpose of learning sketching is reflected in the following three aspects:
1. Sketching as practice for basic training, which is also the main content of sketching tests in recent years' art college entrance exams;
2. Gathering materials for creation by recording people, objects, or life scenes in real life, serving as an important means of accumulating and discovering artistic images;
3. Studying sketching purely as a form of expression, transforming the seemingly ever-changing world into an orderly representation. This process refines and processes the natural objects we see through points, lines, planes, black and white and gray, and the relationship between and the whole, creating more visually appealing images that align better with aesthetic principles and formal significance.
