The revision primarily targets highway tunnels and Class I, II, and III road tunnels, while also considering the needs of lower-grade road tunnels, reflecting a combination of highway tunnels and general road tunnels. In terms of technology, it incorporates mature new theories, methods, and materials while retaining some currently practical traditional technologies based on China's current technical status. The provisions in each clause of this specification are based on reliable technical evidence and relatively mature experience. For technical content lacking practical experience or being less mature in China, it has not been included or only outlined in principle.
