Structural Seismic Design Theory and Examples (Second Edition) (Civil Engineering Series)

Publishing Date: 2002-08-01
Features: The authors of this book have been engaged in research, teaching, and engineering practice in seismic engineering, foundation engineering, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and masonry structures for many years. They have also participated in the revision of the National "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" or the Shanghai "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings." They deeply feel that structural seismic engineering is a highly interdisciplinary and comprehensive field. To introduce the knowledge in this field to readers in a single book, it requires the joint efforts of colleagues from various disciplines to present the essence of these disciplines in structural seismic engineering in an accessible manner. In light of this, multiple authors from Tongji University, based on summarizing the research achievements and engineering practices in structural seismic engineering over the past decade, wrote the "Code for Seismic Design of Building Structures" in 1995. Afterward, they combined their learning and application of the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" (GB50011-2001) to compile this book, "Theoretical and Practical Examples of Seismic Design of Building Structures," to meet the needs of teaching and engineering practice. The book features a balanced emphasis on theoretical exposition and design examples, focusing on the explanation of fundamental concepts and supplemented with detailed examples for demonstration. Some computer programs included in the book can not only be used in teaching but also in engineering practice and scientific research. The authors hope that through studying this book, readers will not only master the basic theories and methods of structural seismic engineering but also become proficient in applying the code for seismic design of various types of building structures.
