Features: Zhang Jun Shiqing is currently a member of the Dongfang Architecture Research Laboratory at Southeast University. He studied in Japan for a year and a half at Aichi Institute of Technology in 1988, under the guidance of the renowned Japanese authority on ancient architecture, Professor Kiyoshi Asano. During his time in Japan, he visited various famous historical and architectural sites, read extensively, and collected a wealth of materials to prepare for research on the cultural exchange of ancient architecture between China and Japan, including the preparation for studying The Record of Garden Making. Upon returning to China in 1989, after completing his doctoral dissertation and receiving his degree, he continued his research on Northeast Asian architectural culture, though it became increasingly difficult to fully realize his intentions. From the numerous annotations by the translator, readers can see the depth of his dedication. He has strived to make the translation as accessible as possible. Through Zhang Jun's diligent efforts, it cannot be said that this translation is perfect, but there are many places where readers and critics are encouraged to point out improvements. However, I believe it can at least be said that this translation is quite readable and easily accepted by Chinese readers.
