Features: "Design of Shenzhen Civic Center and Civic Plaza" is a large-scale engineering project completed by the American firm of Lee Mingyi/Tingqiu Architects in 2002. It is based on the municipal hall concept proposed in their winning urban design scheme for the central area's core site in 1996, after multiple rounds of design and deliberation. The project includes government offices, NPC offices, ceremonial and celebratory events, civic activities, assembly halls, museums, archives, and industrial exhibition halls. This project is not only Shenzhen's future administrative center but also a true civic center. The building and the adjacent civic plaza are the climax and focal point of the entire central axis of the urban area.
