Features: The development of information technology is ever-evolving, playing a crucial role in human progress. The entire advancement of information technology relies on the support of microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies, which can be said to form the cornerstone of the entire information technology sector. Today, with the rapid growth of the global information industry, the swift rise of the network economy, the emergence of the knowledge economy, and the continuous emergence of cutting-edge technologies in modern defense and future warfare, microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies have never been more strategically significant than before. In line with the development guidelines set by the 16th National Congress, China is now entering a critical period to achieve the third strategic goal of modernization. The information industry serves as a leading and pillar industry, driving economic growth, promoting technological progress, and accelerating structural adjustments. Microelectronics and optoelectronics are the foundation of the information industry. Without a strong domestic related industry, China will not only lose the initiative in competing for the future vast information industry market but also jeopardize national economic, political, and defense security. The strategic role of the microelectronics industry in the national economy is first reflected in the contemporary economic chain relationships. Data on modern economic development show that for every 100 to 300 yuan increase in GDP, approximately 10 yuan in electronic industry output value and 1 yuan in integrated circuit output value are required. According to relevant research, the contribution rate of integrated circuits to the national economy far exceeds that of other product categories. For example, if the contribution rate of unit-quality steel bars to GDP is 1, then that of automobiles is 5, color TVs is 30, computers is 1,000, and the contribution rate of integrated circuits is as high as 2,000. 65% of the growth in the total national economic output is related to microelectronics. The microelectronics and optoelectronics industries are the top priorities of development in the new era. Since the invention of the first transistor in 1947, computers, as tools of the new technological revolution, have undergone earth-shaking changes along with industrial development. The well-known Moore's Law remains a guiding principle in the industry to this day. Today's microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies will bring even more and wondrous transformations to the information age. As fundamental technologies, microelectronics and optoelectronics have been closely integrated with bi-chip technology, nanoelectronics, quantum information, robotics, and other technologies. Currently, microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies, including integrated circuit technology, micro/nano devices, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems (MOEMS), lasers, and more, are continuously improving and becoming more refined, with development tools becoming increasingly sophisticated, and the entire industry has entered a phase of rapid growth, with a constant emergence of new technologies. With the rapid development of microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies, new terminology related to these fields has exploded in number, with many terms often appearing in abbreviated forms. Due to the fact that the development of these high-end technologies is largely represented by countries like the United States and Europe, and that development tools are predominantly in English interfaces, along with the fact that the latest reports and publications are primarily in English, this poses difficulties for researchers, technicians, and students in this field who need to read English scientific and technical literature. For domestic researchers, technicians, and a broad range of undergraduate and graduate students in related fields, there is an urgent need for a professional dictionary that reflects the latest technologies. To meet this demand, we have compiled this book. The main features of this book are threefold: 1. It only includes terms related to microelectronics and optoelectronics, making it specialized and focused, with a clear target audience; 2. It strives to reflect the latest advancements in microelectronics and optoelectronics technologies, with many terms being interpreted in Chinese for the first time from a professional perspective; 3. It places significant emphasis on compound words and abbreviations, as many technical phrases and abbreviations carry specific meanings beyond the simple addition of individual word meanings.
