Features: This book focuses on Jiaozhou Bay, a typical semi-enclosed bay in northern China, as the target area. It addresses major marine ecological and environmental issues currently prevalent in China's coastal waters, such as the deterioration of seawater quality and frequent red tide disasters. Based on a systematic analysis of the historical evolution of chemical pollutant discharges, seawater quality, and marine ecological and environmental quality in Jiaozhou Bay, the book systematically elaborates on a series of fundamental concepts and general calculation methods related to marine environmental capacity, grounded in the principles of marine science and environmental science. Additionally, based on the principles of migration-transformation models of chemical pollutants in multi- marine environments, it establishes a marine environmental capacity calculation method based on a box model for the migration and transformation of chemical pollutants in multi- marine environments. On this basis, it calculates the marine environmental capacity and remaining environmental capacity of major chemical pollutants in Jiaozhou Bay, such as nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients, petroleum hydrocarbons, and lead. Furthermore, through a quantitative analysis of the relationship between the total discharge of major chemical pollutants in Jiaozhou Bay and the social and economic development of Qingdao City, it predicts the trend of changes in the marine ecological and environmental quality of Jiaozhou Bay before 2020. This book is suitable for researchers and management personnel engaged in marine environmental protection and governance, as well as serving as a teaching reference for doctoral and master's students in related disciplines at universities.
