Features: "Massive English" consists of 60 lessons, divided into two volumes. It is estimated that each lesson will take 6 hours to complete, with the entire book requiring 360 hours in total. Although we had been contemplating the publication of such a popular English textbook for several years, the direct impetus was a speech by Vice Premier Li Lanqing. During a visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University on October 26, 1994, Vice Premier Li greeted school leaders and some professors, stating that one of the major obstacles to reform and opening up was language. Despite the fact that many people had been learning English over the years, few had truly mastered it. It was necessary to widely promote English education, and Beijing Foreign Studies University should take on this task. After hearing Vice Premier Li's speech, we decided to immediately begin compiling a textbook series to help people master English more quickly.
