Features: The "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" (GB50011-2001) has been officially published and implemented. This book was compiled to support teaching and the learning needs of readers in understanding the code. The content is divided into two parts. The first part adopts a question-and-answer format to explain some basic theories and difficulties in seismic design of buildings. Additionally, the book provides derivations and explanations for relevant clauses, formulas, and calculation coefficients in the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" (GB50011-2001). The second part includes general principles of seismic design, site and foundation, seismic actions and their effects, as well as seismic design and measures for various common building structures. Among them, the calculation of internal forces and lateral displacements for reinforced concrete seismic walls, for double-story walls and symmetric three-story walls, adopts a differential equation solution method using the axial force of wall elements as unknowns, and calculation tables have been compiled. For multi-story walls, an exact solution method is provided. The second part lists representative examples to help readers better understand the basic theories and code clauses in the first part. This book is suitable as an extracurricular reference book for students of civil and structural engineering majors in higher education institutions, as well as a reference for engineering professionals studying the new code.
