Features: Heritage, landscape, and tourism are hot topics of the era and the three pillars of this album. Protection and development are the challenges the era has posed to us, and they are also the reflections of the scholars in this album based on practical experience. We strive to explore the ways and methods of solving the issues of protection and development at the technical level. Based on practice and supported by case studies, this album is characterized by its fundamental approach. The basic guiding principle of this album is the combination of case studies, theoretical thinking, and methodological summaries. Our relentless pursuit is to explore social hot issues from multiple angles, analyze the core of problems at multiple levels, and introduce planning methods through multiple case studies. This album includes insightful discussions and guidance from senior scholars, as well as bold explorations by young scholars. The selected case studies are diverse, covering eight aspects such as sustainable development strategies, development planning, regional tourism planning, urban tourism planning, scenic area planning, resort planning, cultural heritage tourism planning, and urban landscape planning. They basically encompass the mainstream fields of landscape and tourism planning and design in contemporary China, demonstrating representativeness. Moreover, a significant portion of the case studies are collaborative research results between China and other countries, such as the strategic market analysis of the Suzhou Taihu Scenic Area, the theme park of hot springs, the tourism strategic planning of the four prefectures in Xinjiang, the Tianmuhu Resort Planning, the RBD design of Hangzhou Jiefang Road, and the landscape design of Kunshan Ma'an Road. These case studies reflect the cutting-edge concepts and design ideas of the current era.
The economy is developing, social demands are changing, and population pressure is increasing. The contradiction between protection and development is becoming increasingly acute, with heritage protection being the focal point of many conflicts. Standing at the forefront of the times, we feel proud but also bear the historical, contemporary, and future responsibilities.
