During the break, met Li Tangni; first met Pang Jun (Shizhou), agreed to visit his home on the evening of June 29th (or 30th) for a chat, and met Peng Ju (Yunsheng). After lunch, shaved and changed clothes. 3-6 p.m. (Zongfu Street), attended the Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference, listened to Member Chen Baoyin reporting on the spirit of the National People's Political Consultative Conference. Listened to speeches by Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference Members: (1) Zheng Wen, (2) Xue Jianming, (3) Huang Yunmen, (4) Wang Shouchang (Tibetan), (5) Zheng Shanqiong (female), (6) Liu Jimin, (7) Luo Jicheng. The conference announced that the visit would be postponed to the next morning, and the meeting would be held in the afternoon. In the afternoon, received a letter from You yesterday, inviting a dinner and visit. After dinner, Yao Wenqing came again for a visit, but there wasn't time to receive him. 7-9 p.m., Chen Zhiyuan arrived as scheduled, invited Zhang Hongyuan (now a professor at Chengdu University of Technology) and Wu to the cold drink room next to the high-end department store at Yanshikou and Dongshuncheng Street, inside the Chengdu Trade Company, for a chat. Chen ordered hundred-fruit ice cream, which was extremely sweet and delicious (60 cents per serving). Yuan lent Wu 10 yuan in cash, promising to transfer it back when returning to Beibei. Learned that Xiong Zhengjin had recently been admitted to the hospital with a tumor on his neck and was near death; his wife was sent to a remote Yi ethnic area for labor reform as part of her job; about a month ago, his mother-in-law became insane and hanged herself; when Jin returned home (on campus at Sichuan University), he was deeply grieved; everyone laughed at Jin's foolishness but offered no help. Although Wu felt pity for Jin, he dared not visit to comfort him and still felt guilty. 9 p.m., Hongyuan accompanied Wu back to Zongfu Street. Drafted an open letter to be left for Wu's friends visiting tomorrow. 10:00 p.m., went to bed.
June 28th, Sunday, cloudy, morning light rain. At 8:30 a.m., everyone got into the car and went to the former site of the Agricultural Exhibition at Qingyang Palace to visit the Tibet Exhibition: (1) the brutal exploitation of the reactionary feudal serf lords in Tibet; (2) their treasonous crimes. According to the "Kangba Rebellion" in Ganzi and Aba in the autumn and winter of 1957, with's appointment letter and U.S. military air-dropped weapons (3) the inhumane treatment suffered by the working people (drawings and) and their happy and progressive lives after liberation. After lunch at 1:13 p.m., sat at the cold drink stand inside the main gate and met Li Chengsan. Visitors: (1) Miao Yu, invited Wu for ice cream (20 cents), gave him manuscripts and poems (kept). Except for Wednesday, visits are possible in the evenings. Through You, met the Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference member from Anhui, Zhou Xueou—graduated from Southeast University in 1925, professor at Northwest University. (2) Fu Baochen, gave him a photo of the Xin and Qun family. (3) Zhou Jixing, (4) Zou Mingjue, Wu asked him to leave first and come back at 6:30 p.m. (left behind a fan).
