Features: Urbanization and industrialization are hot topics in the study of China's economic and social development. The purpose of this book is to explore the mutual influence and transformation methods between the target model of sustainable cities—eco-cities—and the new industrial revolution—industrial transformation. The book is divided into two parts: Theoretical and Practical.
The Theoretical Part applies complex system theory and modeling methods. By establishing the composite system structure model, factor decomposition model, and correlation model of the "resource—industry—environment" complex system of eco-cities, it studies the coupling relationship and management methods between eco-city construction and industrial transformation. It also uses the self-organization theory and models of systems science to analyze the driving mechanisms of urbanization and the evolutionary mechanisms of eco-city construction and industrial transformation. The Theoretical Part concludes that: eco-cities are the target model of China's urbanization, and industrial transformation is an inevitable choice for China's industrialization; eco-city construction and industrial transformation have a mutually promoting influence; the methods of industrial transformation include clean production, the construction of eco-industrial parks, and the development of a circular economy based on the coupling of production and consumption systems.
The Practical Part takes Shanxi as an example, focusing on analyzing the correlation between urbanization and industrial development in Shanxi, and proposes model selection, investment mechanism selection, strategic choices, as well as strategies and approaches for eco-city construction. It argues that Shanxi should not only vigorously promote urbanization but also pay special attention to eco-city construction based on the current of Shanxi, in order to restore the living environment and improve people's quality of life. In the process of advancing eco-city construction, the path for industrialization lies in industrial restructuring and industrial transformation.
