Features: When Liu Haisu wrote the preface for World Human Body Photography (1988), he stated: "Human body art has a long history. Long before the Christian era, Greek sculptures were masterpieces of the dawn of human culture, and ancient Rome also valued human body sculptures, enriching the legacy of human body art, which became the source of European art. After the long night of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance gradually restored the vitality of human body art. Since the rise of classicism, the human body has served as an aesthetic object, a creative theme, and a fundamental training tool, playing an irreplaceable positive role to this day." Foreign art academies have offered human model teaching courses for hundreds of years. In China, modern art education introduced human model sketching starting from the predecessors like Li Shuchen, and it has accumulated nearly eight or nine decades of experience. Practice has proven that offering human model sketching courses is highly beneficial for both the basic education of art and the development of modern civilization. To meet the needs of human model teaching and creative reference in art academies across the country, we have organized the shooting and compilation of this small album, Practical Human Model Photography.
The album is divided into four poses: lying down, standing, kneeling, and sitting. Most poses are captured with a panoramic, four-directional still shot, allowing learners to gain a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the movement patterns of human bones and skin in a particular pose. The images are all shot by professional models from current art academies in China, following teaching requirements, ensuring standardized poses and healthy appearances. The photography pays attention to aspects such as lighting position, tonal control, and texture effects, which are concerns of modern photographic art, to better explore and express the youthful beauty, healthy beauty, and vitality of the human body, making the images highly appreciable.
