Publish Date: 2006-05-01
Features: Etiquette is a set of behavioral norms and standards that people collectively follow, grounded in consideration, care, and respect for others. China is renowned as the "Land of Etiquette," and as one of the symbols of civilization, etiquette culture plays a significant role in regulating interpersonal relationships in social life. As a textbook on etiquette, this book has been well-received by many readers since its first publication in early 2004 and has fulfilled its role in teaching practice. To adapt to the development of higher vocational education and meet the needs of students from various majors for learning etiquette knowledge, this textbook has been revised. The main changes in this revision are: reducing the chapter "Overview of Chinese and Western Etiquette" and introducing it as part of the "Introduction"; updating and adding some cases; and adjusting the overall structure of the book. In this revision, errors in the previous edition have also been corrected. The revised textbook, based on the characteristics of higher vocational education, is more closely aligned with the student body of vocational colleges and technical schools. It provides targeted descriptions of image etiquette norms and behavioral etiquette norms for various learning and living scenarios, effectively combining etiquette knowledge with practice, thereby highlighting the book's focus and practicality. Adhering to international conventions in all aspects of modern society and emphasizing overall image and behavior will greatly benefit showcasing the positive and progressive spirit of students in vocational colleges and technical schools. This textbook has received encouragement and support from multiple parties during its use. Special thanks are given to Chen Jing, Gao Lingyun, Zhang Di, Bai Yan, Mingming, and others for their valuable suggestions on the revision of this book. I am also deeply grateful to Director Zhang Jiqing of China Renmin University Press for his generous support, which made the revised edition of this book possible. I look forward to using etiquette as a platform to build a harmonious and beautiful humanistic etiquette environment in universities.
